Grandstand scaffold on Sydney Harbour
The iconic Fleet Steps in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens was once again the location for this year’s Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour.
This year saw Opera Australia’s performance of Carmen set to the spectacular background of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge, CBD and Opera House. An impressive location like this called for an equally impressive grandstand. So with a seating capacity in excess of 3,000, Clifton Productions provided what has been called “the best temporary seating structure in Australia”.
The Layher structure had to accommodate a full underworld as well as fit around the tight, sloping site and existing trees, and the numerous other structures being erected for the event. The design featured Layher ALLROUND sub structure with EV decks and grandstand elements on a 250mm riser. The Grandstand took nine months of planning and one week to complete.
