Handa opera on Sydney Harbour
The iconic Fleet Steps at Mrs Macquarie’s chair on spectacular Sydney Harbour was recently transformed into an ambitious 3,000 seat open air venue for Opera Australia’s production of La Traviata.
As well as the impressive 620m² Southern Hospitality Stand, Clifton Productions had to supply 14 sets of Building Code compliant Public Access Stairs for the 3,000 patrons to access the grandstand and hospitality pavilions at the event.
Constructed using 90 sets of 750 stringers and guardrails with child protection, every set of stairs had to fit within the tight dimensions of the steel and grandstand structures. Without the flexibility of the Layher Allround system Opera Australia’s other option would have been to fabricate stairs for the project. The event exceeded all expectations and Opera Australia have already announced Carmen as the must see event of 2013.
