Merivale Rail Bridge, Brisbane
This landmark rail crossing of the Brisbane river required scaffolding to allow for blasting, painting and structural work to be carried out. The project involved challenges that included engineering, rail and waterway traffic, live power plus wind management and scaffolding weight restrictions. Central Scaffolding and Rigging Services thus did not hesitate to select the Layher Allround scaffolding system for the project.
The design and build methods were unique. Parts of the design took the high load-bearing capacity of Layher Allround to maximum to achieve the solution. Build techniques included operating a crane from a barge. Pre-assembled, cantilevered 15m Layher Allround trusses were transported by river, then lifted and inserted laterally between the bridge hangers to form beams between two independent access scaffolds.
Central Scaffolding and Rigging Services created a masterpiece of what the Layher Allround scaffolding product can achieve.
Central Scaffolding and Rigging Services Managing Director, Ray Bachler, commented: “When exploring options to fulfil the design and weight specifications for the project, it quickly became apparent that the only option was the Layher Allround scaffolding system. We were proud to have used Layher Allround to complete this job.”
Congratulations to Ray and the Central Scaffolding and Rigging Services team – a job well done!
