When a 113 year old timber bridge is in need of emergency repairs, Layher ALLROUND provides the ideal solution. Charleyong Bridge is situated between Canberra and Nowra and was built in 1901. Caledonia is engaged on scaffolding works for John Holland at the Kings Square 1 development in Perth CBD. John Holland was looking for access to the tower crane at building level 13, approximately 50m in height, to facilitate safe and simple access to the crane tower, in order to save the crane operator a climb from the ground several times a day. Queenland’s CQ Edge Protection are new to the Layher fold – and they certainly seem to be relishing the Allround system’s capabilities. For the Stockland Shopping Centre in Rockhampton they built a birdcage scaffold over a 20m x 3.5m void and this facade that spans 15m over Moores Creek – and all this without a lattice girder in sight. The award-winning (Champion Australasian Brewery 2004) Swan Brewery in Perth, originally established in 1857 and now part of the Lion Nathan group, is being upgraded. A new, more efficient vessel, a “Louter Tun”, is being installed, made by Krone in Germany, so they can brew a greater variety of beverages, including the local beers Emu and Swan and national brands Tooheys and Hahn that they already brew. On a Bovis Lend Lease site in Sydney’s busy George Street, Above Scaffolding have built a façade scaffold with a difference. The façade scaffold is 14m wide x 18m high and is supported on twin 750 lattice girders cantilevered off a birdcage scaffold in the atrium and extending out over the construction zone in the heart of the CBD. Benchmark Scaffolding recently completed this project using Layher ALLROUND on a sugar mill stack in Queensland. To improve productivity and to avoid the usual risks associated with working at heights, eight modules, each 7m in height, were pre-built on the ground, then fitted with bolt-in crane eyelets before being lifted into position by crane. Spanning 75 metres across the Ashburton River, the Minderoo Bridge is in a remote part of Western Australia. As the bridge is over a site sacred to local Aboriginal people, a requirement of the job was not to disturb the ground below the bridge. Hence the scaffold has been suspended from the top of the bridge and hangs down to just a few centimetres above ground level. Read more
